S.O.T. (Sacral Occipital Technique)
I.A.S.T.M. (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
Nimmo Trigger Point Therapy
A Happier, Healthier You
Dr. Carfora and his staff want each individual to reach their optimal health and well-being. The chiropractic adjustment is NOT a cure all for all diseases and ailments, BUT it is an effective method for resolving subluxations (nerve interference).
Subluxations hinder the body’s ability to adapt, recover, and remain healthy. Chiropractic Care helps the body to re-establish and maintain one’s own health. Carfora Chiropractic seeks to act as a catalyst for the patient to recognize and return to their own state of optimal health.
Our ultimate goal is for patients to understand that each person is in control of his or her own health. A patient's time spent in the office will only be effective and worthwhile if they are willing to put forth the effort to achieve a desired health status in their everyday life.
Dr. Carfora provides individual patient education sessions with every adjustment as well as occasional practice-wide group discussions to help the patient learn about and ideally reduce the subluxations caused by the “thoughts, toxins, and trauma” of everyday life.
Dr. Joe Carfora
I was born and raised right here in Orange County, New York. After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy, I went on to earn my bachelor of science degree from Boston University's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
Following my undergraduate career, I was not sure I wanted to head directly to graduate school to earn my medical degree. I soon decided that it would be best for me to get some real world experience prior to going to graduate school. While managing one of the Hudson Valley's most popular and successful restaurants, I also worked as an EMT for Mobile Life Emergency Medical Services.
Still feeling as if I was not on my true path, I then decided to leave New York to work with clinical officers for the Global Volunteer Network. Partnering up with Unicef and US-AID, I lived and worked in Ngong, Kenya for 6 months. While in Africa, I worked in a hospital that focused primarily on pediatrics and obstetrics. The clinician-patient interactions were so different from the medical system back in the United States. That whole experience has taught me that being a good doctor, at its core, is truly about listening to patients.
Getting adjusted since I was a child, I had a revelation that chiropractic would be a perfect fit for me on account of how DCs treat the whole patient not just the symptoms or the disease. When I returned to the States I decided to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer College, founded in 1897, is “the Fountainhead” of chiropractic being that it is the first and largest chiropractic school in the world.
With Carfora Chiropractic I want to help those in my community by bringing my extensive real world medical experience as well as my knowledge gained at Palmer College back to where it all began for me, the Hudson Valley.
